Zakat Calculator & Wealth Purification

Walk zakat as both worship and maths: what counts as zakatable wealth, nisab in gold or silver equivalents, lunar (hijri) haul, deductions for immediate debts, and how shares or pensions are approached—then pay with intention and local scholar guidance where your situation is not textbook.

What zakat actually asks
Separate personal-use items (home, car you live in, clothes for wear) from investable and hoarded wealth categories your or scholar groups for you.
Nisab and haul
You need threshold () and uninterrupted lunar year on zakatable surplus—not every pound the day it lands; nuance belongs to qualified teaching.
is measured against gold (85 grams) or silver (595 grams). In the Prophet's ﷺ time the two were worth the same; today the silver threshold is far lower. Many Hanafi scholars teach using whichever standard is more beneficial to the poor. Scholars in the Shafi'i and other schools also discuss which standard applies to cash and savings. Ask a scholar of your which threshold to use, rather than picking the one that suits you.
Cash and bank
A current account that is genuinely buffer for bills may differ from idle savings—ask rather than guess.
Gold and jewelry
Ornamental versus investment gold rulings differ—do not self- from one blog.
Stocks and funds
Purification ratio on non- income inside fund, or zakatable value of -screened portfolio—specialist question.
Business inventory
If you sell goods, stock snapshot date matters; partner shares in a limited company or partnership need clarity.
Debt offset
Immediate due debt may reduce zakatable base in many views—document numbers.
Pensions
A workplace pension or SIPP you cannot yet access may be excluded by some scholars until withdrawal is possible—ask whether your pension counts now or later.
Property held for investment
A rental property's rental income after expenses is zakatable like cash; land banked purely for resale value is often valued differently than land generating rent—confirm which applies to you.
Digital assets and receivables
Crypto holdings you control and money genuinely owed to you (expected, collectible) are typically treated as zakatable wealth—do not quietly exclude them because they feel intangible.
Recording each year
Keep a simple dated ledger from your start date. Guessing your anniversary from memory each year is how quietly gets missed or double-counted.
Paying soul
Hand to eligible categories or trusted distributor; delay from stinginess risks sin; early voluntary extra is not unless intended.
Heart finish
After calculation, make : accept purification and teach me contentment with what remains.
Quran Verse
خُذْ مِنْ أَمْوَالِهِمْ صَدَقَةً تُطَهِّرُهُمْ وَتُزَكِّيهِم بِهَا
Khudh min amwaalihim sadaqatan tutahhiruhum wa tuzakkeehim bihaa
Take from their wealth a charity to purify and increase them

Reflection
After paying honestly, does money feel tighter—or does your chest feel oddly lighter—and which feeling tells the truth about your attachment?

Check what stuck

A quick look back. Nothing is scored and nothing is locked.
1. According to the lesson, what should you do once you have finished the calculation?
2. Why does the lesson tell you to keep a simple dated ledger from your hijri start date?
3. On gold, pensions and investment funds, what does the lesson keep telling you to do?
Siddiq RUH is for learning, not for rulings. For a definitive answer on a matter of fiqh, you are encouraged to ask a qualified scholar you trust.
